HRI Properties

Based in New Orleans with offices in St. Louis, HRI Properties is a full-service real estate development company and a national leader in the adaptive reuse of historic structures.

HRI’s first project, the rehabilitation of the Federal Fibre Mills into luxury apartments, led the transformation of New Orleans’ Warehouse District, propelled the transition of residents moving back into the heart of the city and marked the upsurge of museums, art galleries, restaurants and hotels. The previous ghost town of abandoned and decaying warehouses was transformed into a vibrant community of over 3,500 residents and 250 new businesses. The Warehouse District has become a blueprint for creating communities where its residents can live, work and play.

Even before Hurricane Katrina, Pres Kabacoff, the chief executive and founder of HRI, had plans to revitalize New Orleans with an "Afro-Caribbean Paris" district by refurbishing old and blighted buildings. The storm only hastened his resolve to help his hometown.

What HRI looks for are the center points in a city that offers tremendous opportunity and excitement, and can eventually encourage other developers to come in and help revitalize a neighborhood. And once the hurricane hit, it presented an opportunity for HRI to help lay the foundation for a brighter future in New Orleans.
